Oconomowoc Players Present:
Imagine living in a town where dancing is forbidden and no matter where you go, an adults is keeping a strict eye on you. Well, for the high school teens living in the southern town of Bomont, a terrible car accident from years prior has made this a reality. Under the steady word of the town-preacher, dancing, loud music, and any semblance of teenage fun are things of the past.
But come 1984, and Ren from Chicago has just moved to town. Passionate about dancing, Ren is horrified that this town won’t let anyone dance and is determined to change that. As Ren starts to win over the heart of the town-preacher’s daughter, her jealous boyfriend will anything to make the locals believe that Ren is not good for their town. All the while, with help from his friends, Ren is determined to make a dance happen for the seniors--even if it means defying the laws of Bomont and ending his relationship with the preacher’s daughter.
This musical not only shows the challenges of teenage relationships, but also the struggles many teens have with their parents and the rules of adults. Including some very popular songs from the 80’s, we are sure you’ll find yourself singing right along. Now, whether you see if Ren can pull it all off, what you will surely see by the time the last curtain falls is a production put on by some of the most talented and diehard performers Wisconsin has to offer.
Even though Footloose is such a well known musical and expectations are set high pretty high with the many awards the OHS have won, you can still believe that we will exceed them. Our constant hard work and dedication will be shown throughout the entire show and as a cast and crew, we are excited to show you the countless hours put into this play and how much it pays off. So put on your dancing shoes and come to see Footloose at the Oconomowoc Arts Center.
