Post Fall Choir Concert
Oconomowoc High School’s entire choral department: Concert Choir, Choraliers, Golden Gals, and Gold Vibrations, collaborated for their first annual Fall Choir Concert with many beautiful pieces.
The opening song was sung by a combination of Concert Choir and Choraliers, “For the Beauty of the Earth” a dedication to the several natural disasters that our country has faced this season. With sweet crescendos, diminuendos, and a flute accompaniment by Jennifer Hogan, the song was a beautiful representation of how powerful, and sometimes graceful, Mother Nature can be.
Choraliers followed with three equally good pieces; “Jubilate, Exultate,” “Who Has Seen The Wind,” and “Let Freedom Ring.” “Let Freedom Ring” was dedicated in honor of our local, and all veterans , due to that fact that Veteran’s Day is approaching on November 11.
Several gifted soloists were featured in the Latin piece “Jubilate Exultate”: Elyse Stenholtz, Dane Carey, Xavier Tremblay, and Josie Cargill.
Concert Choirs’ talented singers added spirit to the concert with the songs of: “Autumn Moon,” “Tenting on the Old Campground,” “Singabahambayo,” and “Flight Song.” The solo voices of Lily Bolan, Jonah Mueller, Paul Nelson, and Kaley Poole accompanied “Tenting on the Old Campground,” along with guitar and clarinet stylings of Malik Staude and Brendan Mortensen. This song was a dedication piece to those who put their lives on the line for our country. Percussion background by Stephanie Hogan, Cade Kenyon, and Malik Staude was heard in the African folk song “Singabahambayo.”
Golden Gals followed up with “Girls Just Want To Have Fun,” while Gold Vibrations ended the concert with the mellow sounds of “Thank You for the Music.” Audience members also viewed a sneak peek of OHS’s upcoming production of Footloose!
Being a member of choraliers, I found that this concert always approaches quickly at the beginning of the year, which sometimes causes preparations to be stressful. But all in all, the Fall Concert went smoothly and had beautiful performances from every group, as well as a wonderful example of adoration through several songs for those who are fighting for our country.
